BRINGING BACK TO LIFE AN OBJECT FULL OF HISTORY

There are some objects that simply cannot be replaced. Not for their monetary value, but for what they represent. This is the case with this walking stick, entrusted to me by a man who cherished it like a treasure. This stick had seen a lot. Marked by time, scratched, broken in places, a little wobbly… but still solid in its essence. I don't usually take on restoration projects, but the unique character of this piece intrigued me.

My role was to restore it as close as possible to its original state, while respecting the marks of time. To clean without erasing. To solidify without betraying. I worked on every detail so that it would regain its former splendor—the splendor it had when it proudly accompanied its owner, day after day.

A restoration full of nuance

The knob has been repaired to restore a more comfortable grip.

The wood was cleaned and restored with a finish that allows its patina to breathe. The tip—slightly damaged—was reinforced so it could once again accompany its owner on their daily walks, without fear of it breaking. It's not a spectacular transformation. And that, precisely, is the beauty of the gesture: preserving the soul of an object, ensuring that each scar continues to tell its story, but without hindering its progress. This simple yet profoundly meaningful restoration brought me back to the very essence of my craft.

Why I do this job

This kind of project reminds me why I chose to work with wood. It's not just a material; it's a link between generations, between the past and the present. Honestly, seeing her eyes light up when I handed her the walking stick… that's worth more than any project in the world.
